Can we agree that although Jesus has already overcome it, sin and death still operate in this world? Has the principle of sowing and reaping ceased to operate? The devil, although stripped of his authority, still roams the earth seeking whom he may devour.
Through faith in Jesus we have early-access to kingdom lifestyle and reality here on earth. Grace and mercy, redemption and relationship, purpose and position. By Christ’s death and resurrection, God’s kingdom has been initiated here on earth though not yet fully formed or realized.
Until then there are two laws at work here, the law of sin and death and the law of grace. If we don’t accept the gracious mercy of God’s redemption, the covenant of grace, then we are still subject to paying our own debt. We still reap what we sow, as individuals AND as communities. It is the “do this and live” or “don’t and die” harshness of justice. God is not mocked.
You can blame God for death and destruction but it’s really just the consequence of sin. It’s like a criminal blaming the judge for upholding the standard of the law. God didn’t bring about the consequences of sin they are the natural byproduct of sowing it. But through these consequences (e.g. COVID-19) He is stirring up hearts, breaking up their fallow soil preparing their ground to receive His word in order that they might reap salvation.
Mercy triumphs over judgement but only if it is accepted otherwise judgement stands. Stop blaming God for the consequences of a world living like He doesn’t exist. The enemy IS out to get you but God is looking to save and receive you.
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” Gen. 50:20
